Many Morrow County
residents already know Jenifer Murphy Burnaugh who grew up in
Edison and was a life long resident of Morrow County until
beginning her legal career. She is the daughter of Dwight
and Becky Murphy of Edison, and she graduated from Mount Gilead
High School in 1992. While studying criminal justice and
sociology in her college years, Jenifer clerked for Robert C.
Hickson, Jr., another life long resident and well known attorney
of Morrow County, at his firm in Mount Gilead.
In
September 2004, Ms. Burnaugh had the honor of returning to
Morrow County to argue before the Ohio Supreme Court during its
off-site program. The Morrow County Bar President at that
time was Attorney Robert C. Hickson, Jr. who had coordinated the
Supreme Court's visit to Mount Gilead. It was pure
coincidence that Attorney Burnaugh's case was one of the matters
chosen to be heard by the Supreme Court during their
visit. The venue gave Ms. Burnaugh a home field advantage
since family, former teachers, and members of the community were
present in the courtroom to show their support.
When
Robert C. Hickson, Jr. won the election in November 2006 for the
new judgeship for the Morrow County Common Pleas Court, the
opportunity became available for Jenifer to take over his law
firm. Judge Hickson had his legal practice for 24 years
and has known Attorney Burnaugh for over 10 years. Jenifer
began working with the firm's clients in late 2006. On January
1, 2007, she renamed the practice to Burnaugh Law Office and
started adding new clients.
